​Reiki is a form of hands on healing that originated in Japan, by the founder Dr. Usui.

​

Dr. Usui was fascinated by the way Jesus was able to heal. Even though Jesus was an ascended master, he was still incarnate as a human being. Dr. Usui studied the Sanskrit Sutras where in the Healing Buddha and Lotus Sutras he found a formula for healing.

Dr. Usui then traveled to Mt. Kuramayama to fast and meditate. There he had a spiritual experience which included seeing all the reiki symbols and information on how to use them float by him in the air, pausing long enough for him to memorize.

He traveled around the country teaching reiki to his disciples. One of these individuals was Dr. Hayashi, who became one of the 18 people Dr. Usui initiated into mastership.

​

It was Dr. Hayashi that in 1926 was given the task of keeping Reiki alive. Dr. Hyashi opened the first reiki clinic shortly after Dr. Usui's death in 1926. Dr. Hayashi developed a specific series of hand positions, and the three levels or degrees of Reiki.

​Thirteen years ago, at 42 years of age, I became very ill with rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. 

I was devastated and bed ridden for a full year. I had 3 children under 12.

I spent a lot of time soaking my sore body in hot water, which even though I was heavily medicated, was the only thing that offered relief.

One day in the bath, I wanted to know who my guide was, and asked him to help me. I said to the air 'I know you are out there! Please help me! Tell me your name!' and he did. I heard very clearly 'my name is Reiki'. I got out of the tub and searched the internet for that name, only I spelled it wrong. I had typed in Raki, and got 'A Greek wine'! I was not happy. Is this how I am supposed to heal? I went back into meditation and argued with my guide stating 'surely that is not your name?' and I just kept hearing back 'my name is Reiki'. ​

The Odyssey store, in Pickering had just opened up, and I went in to buy chakra stones to see if that could cause some relief. I saw how Reiki was spelled, and immediately went home and searched the web again. To my surprise I found out it was a healing modality! I was so excited, and signed up for all three levels on that very day.

Within 6 months of getting my Masters, I was not experiencing any pain, and was off all my meds.

 

I went back into meditation and asked my guide why he never told me how to spell his name, and his response was 'you never asked!'.... moral of the story? You have to ask!
